History of Baseball in Nashua
Holman Stadium, located off of Amherst Street in Nashua, NH was where
future Brooklyn Dodger stars Roy Campanella and Don Newcombe played
in 1946 on the first integrated baseball team in the U.S. (Jackie
Robinson was playing in Montreal the same year).
Since then, minor league baseball has had a lackluster history in
Nashua. In the 1980s, minor league teams affiliated with the California
Angels and Pittsburgh Pirates stuck around for a while. In 1998, the
fledgling Atlantic League of Professional Baseball brought the unaffiliated
Nashua Pride to Holman.
Pride games today continue to be well attended.
Downtown Nashua New Hampshire
The area now named "Nashua" was originally part of "Dunstable,
Massachusetts".

Facts about Nashua, NH:
Nickname: The Gate City
Population: 1990 Census: 79,662
Second largest city in NH
281st largest city in the U.S.A.
The settlement of Dunstable belonged to Massachusetts until the division
line between the two provinces was settled in 1741.
Dunstable was incorporated by New Hampshire April 4, 1746 under the
same name, and continued so until December 15, 1836 when the name
was changed to Nashua.
In March of 1842 the question of where the town hall should be erected
was decided by a narrow margin in favor of the residents on the south
side. Immediately after the town meeting the northsiders broke off
all relations with the southsiders and finally, on June 3, 1842, the
the north side became "Nashville".
Downtown Nashua was the center of growth in the Early days. Before
Nashua was even a city, there was a Fur trading post in Nashua known
by the Native Americans as Watanic.
The town hall was completed in 1843, and Nashville was united with
Nashua and received its city charter on June 18, 1853.
